Change Your Results

Did you know that 40% of everything you do today will not be a result of any conscious decision you make but instead will be done by rote habit?

Change Your Results

And that’s a good thing. Why would you want to waste your precious brain power thinking through how to brush your teeth, drive to work, or turn on your computer? You’ve done these behaviors so many times, your brain doesn’t need to think about them – it can do them with barely a blip of attention.

Which opens up a world of possibilities… What if? What if marketing was a daily habit? Something you didn’t have to think about but happened automatically? Without thought? Without agony? Without pain?

It can be. Marketing, like any behavior, will become an unconscious habit after you consciously and consistently make it a part of your daily routine. When you repeat a behavior often enough, the brain will eventually internalize it and free up your thinking power so you can spend it on something else.

Like figuring out how to eat more chocolate without gaining weight ☺.

You’re on the right track. By marketing 5 minutes every day, you are teaching your brain that this is something you want it to do consistently.

Keep at it. Lifestyle marketing is just around the corner and it is worth the work and the wait.

Kim, my day consists of learning how to (and following through) on posting videos right into Facebook, making a video for Beth Moore Series, having a great session with you, connecting with others in a variety of ways that I normally do and working on the 10-Day Turnaround.

    • Kim Avery

I’m pretty sure that adds up to more than 5 minutes :). Too bad there aren’t any extra credit points.

Good for you, Mary Lou. Keep up the great work.

  2. Nancy Bentz

Good morning! Before I ever left the house the flow was going…I captured five new blog(s) post titles. And I ‘liked’ your Kim Avery Coaching Facebook page for those extra points. But really, another great resource of encouragement and motivation. Thanks, Kim!

    • Kim Avery

You are on a roll, Nancy. Keep up the great work.

  3. Gaëtane Lenain

Today I wrote down 5 topics for articles I would like to write in the future. Curious to see what you are all doing!

    • Kim Avery

Sounds good. I can’t wait to read them :).

Received a request today to consider being a break-out session speaker at a local, annual well-known retreat for women! Turns out one of the participants at our recent Camp shared her experience with a friend. The friend is the director of this retreat and contacted me this morning.

Shared a recent blog post on my Facebook page and pinned the same blog post to one of my Pinterest boards.

    • Kim Avery

That’s awesome about the speaking request. I love how God makes those connections.

  5. Barbara

Attended a pastoral conference meeting this AM to network AND signed up for three blogs…now just to take the time to read all of this good info coming into my inbox!!

    • Kim Avery

I always have to watch my blog reading – I could spend all my time reading them and no time implementing their advice :). Have fun.

Kim once told us to focus on two or three types of marketing rather than getting spread too thin trying to do “everything” marketing. Facebook has been working well for me this week, so I am continuing to post there, and I also want to do public speaking. Today I researched networking groups that are available in my small community. Only one came up, but it looks like a great one. I am out of town right now, but when I get back I plan on joining it and going to the meetings as a means of networking. I am really looking forward to it!

    • Kim Avery

Sounds like a great plan, Kristie,

  7. Vic Flaming

Thanks for the reminder about building good habits into our lives, Kim. I kind of think the percentage of routine in my day-to-day life is somewhat less than 40%, so it could help bump that percentage up if I made marketing more routine!

I spent my five minutes today setting up meetings with two different coaches who have an interest in a specific focus that I have – coaching missionaries around raising support partners. Looking forward to see what will come from those meetings!

    • Kim Avery

Very interesting. That’s a great idea to glean wisdom from others who are doing the same thing. I hope it goes well.

  8. Carolyn Dunn

Today I sent out a test run on a Survey Monkey survey that will go to all my readers later this month. Ta Da!

    • Kim Avery

Yay! Once you know what they want it will be so much easier to provide it. Good for you.

  9. Pat Schuler

    Today I:
Reactivated my presence on LI after being out for several weeks with holidays and flu.
Sent 15 LI Invitations, 6 connections already.
Joined a business support LI group for coaches, one of my primary targets.
Received a request to submit a proposal to speak at a national fall conference in one of my niches.

I am only working part of the day tomorrow, and as I look at the calendar for next week, it is very heavy on clients (yeah). I will get to back off on this week’s addiction to the marketing activities, which has been a real rush.

    • Kim Avery

      Hi Pat,

Having to back off of marketing activities to serve clients is a very good problem to have :). Enjoy.

  10. Kerry Iannone

Wow! The thought that marketing could be a habit I do automatically is very appealing! I have to admit, it is getting a little easier as I continue to do it. I had a conversation with some one from church who was interested in coaching and I emailed a client and sent them a helpful article. Making progress…

    • Kim Avery

Better than a habit, marketing can be downright addicting, Kerry. Really. I’ll keep trying to convince you :).

  11. Cindy Taylor

I am seeing how being consistent is helpful to my business…and in creating a habit. Thanks for this reminder! Today I continued connecting with my tribe on my page and I am working on a chapter for a book that will be a compilation and released around Easter. This will get my name out there!

    • Kim Avery

I’m so glad you are seeing the benefits in marketing daily. Good for you and congrats on the book coming out around Easter. That’s awesome.

  12. Leigh Ann Hudson

Today I worked on LinkedIn. Reading through connection invitations, accepting some, etc. Thanks for your informative posts each day Kim!

    • Kim Avery

You are so welcome, Leigh Ann. I’m so glad you are keeping up with us :).

  13. Monique Amado

Today I brainstormed 5 possible titles for future blog posts.

    • Kim Avery

Sounds like fun. I hope you came up with some great ideas.

  14. Jill Geers

I started to put together a 1-year plan. Loved it and will continue to tweek and add to it. 🙂

    • Kim Avery

Ah, I love it when I have a plan. Good for you.

  15. Shay Malone

I posted an event flyer on IG and invited 5+ connections on LinkedIn. More exciting…
I finally made a schedule! Now I just have to stick to it, lol.

    • Kim Avery

Good job, Shay. You sound really excited about a schedule.

      • Shay Malone

I’d been doing business stuff in between other stuff. One cannot create a full time business with hobby type hours so I’m expecting that having time set aside will get me up and running by fall, which is my goal.

        • Kim Avery

Great insight, Shay. I can’t wait to see the difference this will make.

  16. Linda Goldfarb

Day 4 – I invited 20 people to like my Live Powerfully Now FB page and received 12 new likes. I tweaked my tagline, and watched 45 minute coaching video on Team coaching.

    • Kim Avery

      Wow – great job!

  17. Jim Hamilton

    Hi Kim,

My activity for today was to make sure that each one of my blog posts ends with a question. This was an easy task since we specialize in questions.

    • Kim Avery

Good point – we do specialize in questions and adding them to the end of our blog posts is a natural fit :).

  18. Chuck Taylor

Connected with the publisher of our county’s magazine and was asked to write a blog post for their newly revamped website.

    • Kim Avery

That’s awesome, Chuck. Guest blogging is a great way to get increased exposure.

    • Kim Avery

That’s awesome, Chuck. Guest blogging is a great way to get increased exposure.

  19. LeeAnn Taylor

I logged into our (previously dormant) Mail Chimp account to determine how we can better utilize it for marketing.

    • Kim Avery

      Good idea, LeeAnn.

  20. Marcia Albrecht

While I can’t keep up with MaryLou, I did post a poll on FB

  21. Marcia Albrecht
