How Inspired Am I? Quiz

by | 66 comments

You know what it’s like to work when you are β€œin the zone.” Ideas flow, time flies and the results speak for themselves.

There’s nothing quite like the joy and beauty of inspired work.

But you also know the stuckness that comes when marketing inspiration is nowhere to be found. You complain, procrastinate and look for every available excuse to avoid the imminent pain. Mowing the yard suddenly sounds like fun and cleaning your closet like a day at Disneyland.

Inspiration brings joy and productivity. No inspiration equals avoidance and dread.

Where are you on the inspiration continuum?

Find out by taking the brief quiz below.

How Inspired Am I? Quiz

Place a checkmark next to any true statements.

Β  I find marketing and working on my coaching business an energy drainer instead of an energy gainer.

Β  I have a hard time explaining to people the message that God has laid on my heart.

Β  I procrastinate working on marketing activities.

Β  I often find myself using my marketing time engaged in mindless activities such as surfing the Internet or watching TV.

Β  I feel like I’ve lost the original passion I had when I first went into coaching.

Β  I’m often bored with my life.

Β  I’m very busy, but my schedule reflects other people’s priorities more than my own.

Β  Sometimes I doubt whether God really called me to go into the coaching field.

Β  I dread marketing because it seems to have no connection to the bigger vision God has given me.

Β  I often go weeks without talking to anyone about coaching or the way that God has called me to serve people in this world.

Count the number of checkmarks, and score below.

8-10 – Your inspiration cup is completely dry. No wonder you dread marketing. The good news is that once you begin tapping into regular sources of inspiration, marketing will get easier and be more effective.
6-7 – You are suffering from inspiration deprivation. Stayed tuned throughout this week for ideas on how to turn that around.
4-5 – Hang in there. You have already found some good ways to refuel your inspiration. By adding a few more sources to your life, marketing can become a joy and a delight.
0-3 – Celebrate. You are an inspiration ninja.

No matter your current level inspiration, you can improve it – and trust me, you’ll be glad you did.

Be sure to catch the next post in this series on inspiration, so you can once again live β€œin the zone.”

I loved reading your comments yesterday, learning how you keep yourself inspired and hearing about your marketing activities. You are creative and hard-working. In fact, you may want to take a minute to read what others have written in the comments to get some new marketing ideas for yourself.

    Keep up the great work!

Today I was featured speaker before 23 pastors of some pretty progressive churches. I told them the benefits of the Listen to My Life workshop I am facilitating on an. 25th and asked them to encourage their church women to come. I am considering how to add coaching as a follow up option to that workshop.

Yesterday I contacted women from 5 different churches and told them about this workshop. I missed a face time opportunity to share with more because of a hacking cough, but I believe I respected the fact that women need to stay well in this flu and cold season.

I scored a 2 and was really surprised that I’m an “inspiration ninja” ;-). I expected to be more toward the middle. This was a great check in for me because I’m often too hard on myself. Yesterday I was very guilty of that; so today in the marketing challenge, I’m extending grace to the marketer ~ me. Does that still earn me a point? πŸ™‚

Scored a 0, so I know I love marketing and promotion. My problem is often getting sidelined by energy drainers like QuickBooks, invoicing, etc. I LOVE marketing and promotion, but find I need to do a better job of planning and scheduling my time around various activities.

Today I am sending personal emails to men who have expressed interest in some of my coaching packages.

Dear Kim… it felt like you were looking right at me and into my heart this morning. How did you get in my head? LOL I scored a dismal 8. I am really looking forward to getting some inspiration and motivation infused back into my marketing plan. I have loads of ideas… just struggling to get them implemented. Thanks for this 15 Day challenge Kim. It is a blessing.

Good morning Kim! I am loving this marketing challenge because I am in this launch phase and it is much more difficult than I thought it would be. I’ve build successful businesses in the past – but I find myself struggling to define what I’m doing and have realized that I need a clearer marketing message. My wheels are turning though and I’m getting energized, setting some goals and hoping to develop some programs that I can effectively market. Yesterday I had 136 “likes” on my facebook page and today I have 220 thanks to my marketing activity in the past 24 hours. Good good stuff Kim!

    • Wesley Wiley

Hey Kim, I SOMETIMES am inspired. My challenge is that when I am inspired, I am inspired by almost EVERYTHING! Focus is a challenge. Yesterday, in the midst of “have to get this done,” I was inspired to check my email — more than once. The good news is that I discovered a Mac app called Vitamin-R 2. It was on sale yesterday and today for only 1.99.

And I completed what I needed to finish late last night. THe app worked to help me focus, but it was a little annoying because I didn’t use it that effectively. I’m in another week with long days; I have small marketing things planned each today. Learning to use Vitamin-R 2 effectively was NOT in my plans. Now I’m bumping that up to the top because I can see that it will help me be more productive on many marketing (and other tasks).

Great quiz for today, Kim! I scored a 4. I sometimes find myself procrastinating, letting myself get busy with other things, and filling myself with mindless activity when I need to work on marketing. My aim is to keep moving forward, one thing at a time, and not get stuck. Thanks for the encouragement!

Today I scored a 2. My schedule often reflects other people’s priorities and then I find myself working later at night than I want to get stuff done. I’m working on this! There needs to be a balance between others’ priorities and mine! That is a TOUGH one!!! Because it isn’t that cut and dried. For instance, it is horribly cold so I haven’t walked for groceries for awhile. A friend offered to take me in her car today. I am grateful! But, my plans are changed!

I was pleasantly surprised by my score of 4. I thought it would be a bit higher, but I am encouraged by this. I have so many things vying for my attention in addition to getting my business going, that I’m having difficulty prioritizing and become stressed as a result. I had a great coaching session yesterday with my friend/coach Christy who helped me prioritize and put together a plan that I have already begun working on–woo hoo!

I’ve scheduled a speaking engagement and followed up with another interested person. Trusting the Lord to direct my steps as I focus on what He wants to do with this.

I scored a 4, although I would have scored much higher a couple of days ago. Monday brought me an inspirational conversation with a marketing consultant. It gave me a fresh vision for my work of writing, coaching, and teaching. I still don’t think I’m good at marketing, but I’m much more excited about it now.

I scored a 1 and like a few others was surprised at being an Inspiration Ninja! Appreciated you suggesting that we visit yesterday’s comments to get some new ideas for ourselves. I had already picked up one idea from the comments when reading them yesterday. I went into my Facebook account and shared my goal of doubling my “likes.” Didn’t double them, but did gain a few! Slow and steady!!

Thanks for the encouragement Kim! It is working πŸ™‚ Keeping me focused on the day by day steps and encouraging me along the way. I was at a 4 which is not bad, I’m just struggling with the patience to let the sowing season last long enough for me to get to the fruit part!

My low score is probably because I am in the lower edge of the learning curve for marketing. Don’t know enough to get discouraged! Find it interesting and have action steps in place to move forward. Other people’s priorities are an issue that I’m working to get balance. Thx for the focus!

I scored a 4. After spending the last year or so putting others priorities ahead of my own, I finally drew a line in the sand and said enough is enough! I dedicated the last quarter of 2013 to evaluate where I wanted to be this year and began drafting a plan to get there. I am very encouraged by everyone’s posts and appreciate this much needed support! This is God ordained and right on time πŸ™‚ Today I listened to a Bible teaching on change and as a result got more content to finalize my blog post on “Getting Unstuck”. Thank you Kim!

I scored a 6 on your quiz, and somewhat surprised it’s that high. Every time I think I’m making progress something seems to zap me. I guess that’s pretty common.
I did do work on the business on Monday (organized future blog posts, and wrote a future blog post), and on Tuesday (attended a marketing webinar) but did not get here to post. Today I looked through a lot of WordPress themes for my website, and emailed with a person that has a small chance of being a coaching client, more than likely someone who just wants a spiritual mentor.

Just call me LA Ninja ;). I am currently in the Dream Room with some other coaches and it has been wonderful. Between the Vision God is imparting to me and the manner I’m learning to grow and develop it in the class, my marketing inspiration is high. And with the knowledge Ive learned and am learning from Kim, I can start putting action steps to my developing marketing plans. Thank you God and all those helping in this endeavor!
