Platform Book Study – Turn Your Marketing Around

By Kim Avery

Overwhelmed by the tsunami of marketing advice being churned out every day? “Be seen. Be heard. Be everywhere.” Easy to say, but with over 6 billion people on the planet it’s NOT as easy as it sounds.

You’re Invited to Turn Your Marketing Around
(Pssst… it’s free!)

As a coach, you know that your target market needs to know who you are and what you do. In fact, it’s the critical first step. But in a busy world, with everything from hamburgers to hemorrhoid medicines competing for consumer’s attention, how can you stand out?

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there were a “Paint-by-Number” visibility plan that even the most reluctant entrepreneur could follow step-by-step?

There is.

Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World

With release of his new book Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World, Michael Hyatt, former CEO and now Chairman of Thomas Nelson Publishing, has given us just that. Platform is full of relevant, practical and inspiring information presented in Hyatt’s usual no-nonsense yet engaging style.

But I am not writing this to add one more 5 star book review to the hundreds he has already received.

This is an invitation. An invitation for you to take each one of the simple steps that Michael lays out in his book and to build a platform of your own.

Beginning Next Week

With Michael Hyatt’s generous permission, on Tuesday, July 10th, the Christian Coaches Blog  will be begin studying (and implementing) his ideas, and you are invited to join.

To get started:
o Purchase the book, Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World
o Subscribe to the blog here: Christian Coaches Blog
o Read the Introduction in the book
o Visit the blog every Tuesday, beginning July 10th
o Read 2 chapters each week (each chapter is only a few pages long)
o Assign yourself relevant homework
o Leave a comment for accountability and to encourage others

That’s it.

You now have a plan, tools and a loving community to support you as you seek to grow your platform for the glory of God. I can’t wait to get started.

Please leave a comment and let me know if you will be joining the journey!

  1. Arleen Bradley, arleenbradley.com

I would love to be part of the group, but I can’t make it on Tuesdays. What is possible for those who can’t make it on Tuesdays?

    Thanks
    Arleen

    • Good news – While, I am publishing a new blog post each Tuesday corresponding to the chapters we are covering, you can read and share your progress and comments at any time during the week. If you subscribe to the blogs RSS feed (see green box in right-hand column) you can get the blog posts by email so that you don’t have to ‘remember’ to come.

      Does that make sense?

In other words, we are not meeting ‘real time’ but virtually.

I am so glad you are going to join us. Thanks, Arleen.

What a great way to integrate the Platform concepts into our businesses AND build community. So excited to take this journey with you and the other participants, Kim. Thanks for organizing it.

    • Hi Kathryn – I’m looking forward to hearing and seeing all the fun things that God lays on your heart as we take this journey. Thanks for coming along :)

  5. JD Eddins,

I have already read the book and would highly recommend it to others. I am really looking forward to hearing your take on this because I am just starting to add the training for coaching so that I can add to the work I already do as a therapist. I will be great to hear how others are using this book to improve their coaching business.

    • Hi JD,
That’s awesome. I also came into coaching after being a therapist and I love it.

Since you’ve read the book, I hope you will add your thoughts and wisdom. Also, if specific questions come to you around how these things apply to coaching, don’t hesitate to ask.

      Have a blessed day!

  6. Jim Dean,

I have been praying and thinking about blogging for months. I am ready to start getting serious about it, and this will serve as a catalyst. I have been through the first 29 (short) chapters of the book just reading, and now I am ready to start going to work.

I’m in for this book review. I’ve been subscribed to Michael Hyatt’s blog/newsletter for awhile now. My active participation may be slim due to the time requirments of my projects over the next month or so, but I’m looking forward to learning from you all.

    • Hey Mark, You know that we’ll take you whenever we can get you. How’s your website project going?
