Genuis Requires Perspiration – Marketing Game ~ Day 2

by | 58 comments

Coaching is incredibly powerful, and I firmly believe that it is one of the key tools that God is using in this generation to help people live joyful, intentional and purposeful lives. Thank you for being a part of that movement!

Genuis Requires Perspiration

That’s good news for you and me. We don’t have to be the best coaches or the best marketers in the world to succeed at our callings. We must simply put in the work.

And you are. By playing the 5-Minute Marketing Game, you are already learning and applying the skills you need to fill your coaching practice with eager clients.

Good for you!

I’m praying that God will richly bless your efforts today as you follow Him in faith.

Don’t forget to post your daily marketing activity in the comment section below.

You all are off to a great start in the 5-Minute Marketing Game. Congratulations! I can’t wait to hear what you get done today.

    You’re awesome!

  2. Chuck Taylor

Attended a local chamber of commerce in-person networking breakfast this morning. It took more than 5 minutes, but it was a good use of time!

    • Kim Avery

Networking in person is so valuable. Sounds like time well-spent.

  3. LeeAnn Taylor

Updated copy on the website and edited a blog post to go live later today.

    • Kim Avery

Awesome, LeeAnn. Updating web copy is no fun (at least for me it isn’t.) Good for you for getting it done.

  4. Barbara

I downloaded WRITING TOOLS:50 ESSENTIAL STRATEGIES…to my kindle and look forward to reading it!

    • Kim Avery

I love this book. Let me know what you think.

  5. Deborah Haddix

Subscribed to 3 marketing blogs this morning and read a blog post on one of them. Then registered with morgueFile and downloaded a few photos to use in social media posts. Now off to prepare for a group (Designed for Prayer CAMP) that takes place this evening. Exciting times!
Thank you for the inspiration, Kim!

    • Kim Avery

Wow, Deborah, you are on fire! Keep up the great work.

  6. Gaetane Lenain

    Hi Kim,
Today I defined my niche more clearly, a great (and necessary) start to research the niche and find prospects! I also planned the marketing actions I want to do for the coming weeks.

    • Kim Avery

Hi Gaetane – choosing and narrowing a niche is one is the toughest parts of this business-building. I’m so glad you were able to make progress on that. Yay!

  7. Nancy Bentz

Just sent to a new acquaintance a personal email invitation to an upcoming workshop I am hosting on January 24. A little less than a ‘cold call’ since I have met her once, but a reach-out nonetheless!

    • Kim Avery

That’s great, Nancy. It always feels good to get a personal invitation. I’m sure she’ll appreciate it.

  8. Vic Flaming

Had a hard time getting in the “marketing groove” today, but saw the item “organize something in your office” on your list, and decided to clean up and organize my desk, while praying and thinking about what I can do over the next few weeks in terms of marketing. My desk really needed a good cleaning – not sure that that qualifies as marketing in itself – but I had some very productive thoughts as I dusted the items that I keep on my desk, so maybe marketing will happen as a result… more on that to come!

    • Kim Avery

      Hi Vic,

Actually cleaning off my desk is usually the best way to unclutter my mind – so it’s all good. I love being able to have a variety of activities to choose from so that I can find one that fits my mood and know that I’m still moving forward :). Good job.

  9. Kristie Farnworth

Today I signed up for Twitter. I have wanted to do that for some time, but kept putting it off. It feels good to finally have done that. Also, I had a really good response to my FB post yesterday, so I followed up with that contact. She may be able to open up the door to connecting with many more in my target group. So excited!

    • Kim Avery

Hi Kristie – Wow – signing-up for Twitter AND getting a response to your FB post already. Sounds like a very good day :).

  10. Gwen

Updated my profile on facebook. I tend to be technologically challenged so doing anything like that takes more time than it should. But I’m happy with what I was able to accomplish in those few minutes.

    • Kim Avery

      Yay, Gwen!

  11. Pamela

Upgraded and updated my blog today. Completed list of top 10 books for Adults with ADD.

    • Kim Avery

That sounds interesting. Should be a great blog post.

  12. Kerry Iannone

I posted another blog today, completed my top 5 goals for the year and began working on my Annual Marketing Plan. It feels good to be planful and prepared!

  13. Monique Amado

I contacted someone from my church to see about finding a venue/place for doing a workshop in the coming months for free or very, very inexpensively.

    • Kim Avery

Awesome. The workshop sounds like fun.

  14. Pat Schuler

    Today I did the following:
Left encouraging vm/email/FB or LI for 10 colleagues
Reached out to two potential JV/COI partners
    Reached to a new referral
Investigated a coaching cert site to see if there are blogging or forum opportunities
Set weekly time for writing – 2 hours per week

I am very excited about the energy coming to me from the game!

    • Kim Avery

Wow, Pat. That is so awesome. I’m sure you’ll get lots of interest from all that activity.

  15. Cindy Taylor

Today I was very intentional about my Facebook posts with the goal to get interaction from those who have liked my page! I asked questions and received answers…to which I replied!

    • Kim Avery

That’s pretty cool that you got responses so quickly. Good job.

  16. Nancy Booth

Listened carefully to people at my professional meeting today – shared my business card. plan to share helpful articles with them in their stage of life as follow-up. Excited to see who He is putting in my path.

Prayed for other clients and potential clients that God may illuminate their next steps to move forward.

    • Kim Avery

Hi Nancy, I love how you are integrating marketing into your daily life and relationships through serving. Good for you.

  17. Leigh Ann Hudson

Worked on quotes to post on FB.

    • Kim Avery

Sounds like fun. I can’t wait to see them.

  18. Jill Geers

I subscribed to Michael Hyatt’s website. I am very interested in the template you referenced from Michael in your ideal week for Christian coaches podcast. There is such a wealth of information from his website. Earlier today I was on a conference call with other coaches who are in training and told them about your website Kim, and encouraged them to join the 5-minute marketing game.

    • Kim Avery

      Hi Jill,

You’ll love Michael Hyatt. He is so helpful. And thank you so much for sharing the 5-Minute Marketing Game with your coach friends. I hope they join us.

  19. Dr. AudreyAnn Moses

I did not get to post on the 12th. I have valuable help with marketing my projects. I am learning how to get my talents recognized.
Today, 1/13: I am planning a series of workshops. Today, I had an opportunity to “advertise” while in conversation with several people. Also, flyer posted on email and Facebook.

    • Kim Avery

Woohoo. It sounds like you are moving ahead on several fronts. Great job.

  20. Jillian

I emailed/ connected with a local church counseling center to suggest ideas on how we can partner together in the future!

    • Kim Avery

Very good, Jillian. I know for me that would have been a big step out of my comfort zone. I can’t wait to hear what they say. Be sure to stop by and tell us.

  21. Rayna

I spent some time researching area community clubs to contact to offer my speaking services. Still lots of work to do on this but a good start today.

    • Kim Avery

They would be lucky to have you, Rayna!

  22. Jillian

Today I researched local Life Coaching and Counseling Centers to build contacts and perhaps volunteer to get my name there.

    • Kim Avery

Volunteering sounds like fun. I hope something works out.

  23. Shay

I listened to your marketing podcast on Christian Coaching, which led me back to your website, which is how I found out about the game 🙂

    • Kim Avery

Thanks for sharing that, Shay. It’s hard to know how people find me sometimes, so I’m glad to hear how that worked for you. Welcome!!!

  24. Jim Hamilton

5-Minute Marketing Game: I read a marketing post on the Entrepreneur Magazine Blog. It was titled “The 3 Biggest Sins of Customer Engagement.” It said that by 2020 customer engagement will overtake both price and product as the most important factor in a customer’s choice to buy. Very interesting for us coaches who are learning how to be better marketers.

    • Kim Avery

Interesting. I may look that article up. Thanks so much for sharing it.

  25. LeAnne

Listened in to a couple of Michael Hyatts podacsts, was so inspired that I had ordered a new planner! I will set some realistic and achievable weekly goals to contact and encourage collaboration. I have committed to a group to raise the standard of coaching in the US!

    • Kim Avery

I LOVE planners. I could have a dozen except then I’d forget everything that wasn’t in the current one :).

  26. Jillian

Today I sent a friend request and followed 7 inspiring Christian women authors/ speakers on FaceBook.

    • Kim Avery

Good for you, Jillian. That sounds like a fun marketing activity.

  27. Jillian

Today I created a list of women I already know, and sent them a Time Sensitive Special Offer for Life Coaching with me.

    • Kim Avery

Wow – good job. I’m looking forward to hearing what responses you get.

  28. Jillian

Today I ordered a book on amazon in my niche.

    • Kim Avery

      Good idea. Enjoy!

  29. Jillian

Yesterday I sent my Time Sensitive Special offer to 7 more women I already know and would like to work with. Today Im praying for all 17 women, and that many of them would become clients this year!

  30. Jillian

Today I did some research and re-packaged my services on my website.

  31. Jillian

Yesterday I made a prayer list and prayed over the future of my business. Today I sent a personalized email to a potential client with a special offer!
