Habits Form Us – Marketing Game ~ Day 6

by | 32 comments

Welcome to Day 6 of the 5-Minute Marketing Game. I hope you are getting into a routine of marketing for a few minutes every day.

Habits Form Us
If you are like me, it takes a bit of thought and effort to start a new habit, but once it’s established it takes on a life of its own. That’s what we want business building to be – a habit, a lifestyle, a regular part of our daily lives.

You can do it, and all it takes is 5 minutes. Today. And then the next day. And the day after that.

Keep up the great work, and let me know how it’s going in the comment section below.

Don’t forget to post your daily marketing activity in the comment section below.

I updated my Google+ profile and posted in a Community there. Was shocked to see how many likes and shares I got compared to Facebook!

    • MaryLou Caskey

That’s great Jeanette, it would be great to learn about communities in Google Plus. That’s wonderful!

    • Kim Avery

Hi Jeanette, Thanks for sharing the update about Google+. I haven’t spent a lot of time there, but it sounds like it’s worth another look. Good job.

  2. MaryLou Caskey

I have a variety of marketing projects for today and this week including sharing graphics, videos, and just simply learning about others and connecting with them.

    • Kim Avery

Sounds like it’s going to be a great week, Mary Lou.

  3. Deborah Haddix

I updated my bio sheet and then contacted 6-7 people who could be influential in setting up some speaking engagements or workshops. I also sent a request to a key influencer in my niche seeking permission to build a presentation based around a concept developed by her.

    • Kim Avery

Very nice, Deborah. I expect you’ll get a number of good speaking engagements as a result of your calls. Good for you.

  4. Rayna

I sent our my first Newsletter for Take Heart Transitions on Sunday. I went ahead and forwarded the email to many friends and family asking them to sign up in order to keep receiving them. I hope that will help grow my list from 7 to 20. I am exploring Google+ and Linkedin more today too.

    • Kim Avery

Woohoo, Rayna. I love your first newsletter and am looking forward to getting many more.

  5. Pat Schuler

Didn’t get to post Friday afternoon. We took revitalization time to have lunch and explore with friends.
I did invite 5 friends on FB and asked for 10 connections on LI.

Today I have brainstormed 5 more blog post topics and created the outline for a session for members of my Mastery Program.

    • Kim Avery

I love how you keep reaching out to new people, Pat. As you know, that’s a terrific way to grow your network and your influence. Great job.

  6. Stacy Harshman

I am starting off my week with a verse that I put in my notes for my phone. It is: Even when the way goes through Death Valley, I’m not afraid when you walk at my side. (Psalm 23:4 Message)

    • Kim Avery

I like that verse, Stacy. I’m glad God has laid it on your heart, and thanks for sharing it with us.

  7. Vic Flaming

Spent a few minutes of my 5 choosing my three marketing priorities for the week, and then spent the balance of my time trying to figure out how to share a blog post on Facebook. Still, not 100% clear on that last bit, but I did share a post from my blog it seems…

    • Kim Avery

Yay, Vic. I’m glad you are learning how to share your blog on FB. It should really extend your reach. And good for you for jumping in and learning new things – that’s the best way to grow.

  8. Monique Amado

I posted earlier, but it didn’t seem to go through. Please excuse if this is a duplicate…

I’ve gotten Google analytics but I don’t know if it’s officially installed because I’m not sure I understand where on my site to paste that tracking code. Any tips you could offer to help?

I’ve also written down 3 thought leaders in my niche that I’d like to connect with and am beginning praying about opportunities. I already connected with one of them through LinkedIn after seeing one of his TED talks over the weekend–Daniel Amen. He’s a psychiatrist who works with groups and churches to help people eat healthier and for greater brain health. Because of him, Rick Warren became part of it and it has been affecting 1000’s of people’s lives. Check out his TED talks on YouTube. He’s a fascinating speaker! Daniel said he is wanting to export and I told him I would love to be part of implementing this here in Berlin. He said his staff will be in touch with me.

I’m really loving this marketing game, Kim. There are so many things I do on a daily basis that I didn’t think of as marketing, but just thought of it as connecting with people. It’s been very encouraging to realize that I’ve been doing more than I gave myself credit for. Thanks, Kim.

    • Kim Avery

Hi Monique, I wish I could help you with the Google Analytics installation but I had someone else do that for me. Sorry.

I think it’s awesome that you connected with Daniel Amen and that you might be able to help him expand into Berlin. What a tremendous opportunity. And I’m glad to hear that you are marketing more than you thought. That’s always good news :).

  9. Barbara

I subscribed to three blogs today that are highly recommended by my niche…hoping that they will keep me in touch with the concerns of my niche! Now to make sure I read them or at least peruse them!

    • Kim Avery

That’s great, Barbara. That should really help you understand what your niche is struggling with and how you can best help them.

  10. Gaetane Lenain

    Hi,
Today I adapted my Linked In summary and shared an article on LinkedIn.

    • Kim Avery

Hi Gaetane, It sounds like you are really increasing your visibility on LinkedIn. That’s probably a great venue for you.

  11. Kerry Iannone

Today I prioritized and put together my “to do” list for the week, identified several more blog titles, and had an initial consultation with someone who became a new client-woo hoo! I feel good having a list of priorities in order for the week, which should help me use my time wisely and accomplish things.

    • Kim Avery

Woohoo! Congratulations on the new client, Kerry. That’s awesome!

  12. Leigh Ann Hudson

Happy Monday friends! Today I got to meet a couple who are missionaries overseas. I got to tell them about my Leadership Coaching career, and that I love clients who are on the front lines of ministry (missionaries, pastors, directors, etc). It was a wonderful opportunity and we had a great visit!

    • Kim Avery

That sounds beautiful, Leigh Ann. I’m sure you were a great encouragement to them.

  13. Nancy Bentz

My husband and I are self-employed; he a counselor, me a life coach. We took today off for the holiday but this evening I did my 5-minute activity! Made two personal contact follow-ups regarding an upcoming workshop I am hosting next weekend. And, I finished chapter 2 and all of chapter 3 in Get Clients Now! for Thursday’s class kickoff. Brain cells are percolating 🙂

    • Kim Avery

Good for you for taking the day off, Nancy. I did, too. But I’m glad you also found time for your marketing activity. Your workshop should be a lot of fun, and I can’t wait until Get Clients Now starts.

  14. Jim Hamilton

Activity for today: I invited 5 new connections on LinkedIn.
