We Become What We Do – Marketing Game ~ Day 8

by | 68 comments

Welcome to Day 8 of the 5-Minute Marketing Game.

We Become What We Do
Very few coaches start a coaching business because they’ve always dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur. In fact, running a business is usually the last thing a coach wants to do.

But it can be done. You do it the way you do any new thing. One step at a time.

I’m not a runner… until I start to run just a little bit every day.

I’m not a musician… until I add daily practice into my regular routine.

You may not be a successful coach-entrepreneur – yet. But you can be. Just repeatedly practice your 5-minute tasks and one day you’ll look in the mirror and see that you’ve become the thriving coach/business owner you’ve always wanted to be.

Don’t forget to post your daily marketing activity in the comment section below.

Today I am sharing a new blog post, developing the Ten-Day Turnaround, developing what I will share at church tomorrow night and much more.

I’m praying for your talk at church. I can’t wait to hear how it goes.

Kim, this post is SO true. I have a team of attorneys as clients. In October they started accountability for daily and weekly business development (marketing activities. This week, three of them reported that January is a ‘best month ever’. Yes, it is a little front-end loaded, but the pay off of these simple activities is awesome for your business! Thanks for sharing this important message.

    • Kim Avery

That is a great account, Pat. That is encouraging for all of us.

Today I wrote my second post for a guest blog in one of my key niches. ALso having a first coaching session with a new client who came as a referral to a referral. How cool!

    • Kim Avery

Woohoo! Kudos on the new client. Good stuff.

Today, I am putting the finishing touches on my annual marketing plan, finishing an outline for a future presentation and writing a blog post. Practicing my marketing every day, no matter how great or small of a task I accomplish, I am making it a habit!

    • Kim Avery

You are making marketing a habit, Kerry! Good for you!

I published my latest blog post and pinned it to several group boards and posted on Instagram. I tweeted it and tagged a few key people.

    • Kim Avery

That’s awesome, Shay. 50% of the job was writing the blog post, but I’m so glad you did the other 50% of the job – which is pointing people to it. Yay!

This morning I followed up with personal calls and emails to four people in varying stages of working with me. A portion of my remaining day will be spent gathering my materials and putting finishing touches on Saturday’s half-day workshop.

    • Kim Avery

Good for you on the follow-up, Nancy. Did you know you can almost double your results by doing that?

I spent some time digging into Kim’s the Power of Public Speaking Course. Good stuff. I am enjoying starting to develop my Strategic Speech.

    • Kim Avery

That’s great, Rayna. And I’m glad you are enjoying it. I’ve found that if I like my speech, other people usually do as well.

  17. Kristie Farnworth

Today I connected with my former massage therapist (from one of my FB posts. :)) She has a passion to help women with autoimmune disorders as well, especially those afflicted with MS. Like me, she embraces a more natural approach to healing. She has a website, and she invited me to write my story so that she can post it on her website to help me get more exposure. She would like me to continue to add articles and even recipes for healthy living. I am very excited about reconnecting with her and believe God directed it. She also referred her daughter to me, who struggles with MS. I look forward to seeing what God can do through our joint efforts!

    • Kim Avery

Wow – that is a great opportunity for both of you. And to think that it all started with your FB post. Very cool.

Today I worked on a Designed for Prayer Camp for February: sent out invites, worked through changes, prepped materials. Then when I checked my email I discovered a very touching message from a recent participant at a Camp — shared it on my FB page. God is certainly the master of perfect timing!

    • Kim Avery

Perfect timing, indeed. That is so cool. Thanks for sharing that.

  23. Gaëtane Lenain

Today I sent an e-mail expressing my interest in the communication committee of the local ICF chapter and volunteered for some of their opportunities. Working on the communication of this chapter will automatically improve my own visibility and expand my network. Accountability is obviously involved too. I am so excited about this!

    • Kim Avery

You “sound” excited, Gaetane. This will be a great opportunity for you!

Met with my logo guy (who originally was just a sophomore in HS and now just finished his first semester of college) to create a logo that I can put on paperwork for my new business. That is a little deceiving…it is not a new logo per say since I am using the same logo but wanted the new title of the new business on with that logo so it can be a header to my letters or other such ways to use a logo.

    • Kim Avery

Good idea to keep the same theme running through both of your businesses. I’m glad your logo guy could make it work.
